LASIKJewell Eye co-manages laser refractive surgery or LASIK. Jewell Eye primarily work with TLC in Waltham and Providence and D’Ambrosia Eye Care. Jewell provides pre-operative and post operative care for our refractive patients.

LASIK is a surgical procedure that uses a laser to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism. In LASIK, a thin flap in the cornea is created using either a microkeratome blade or a femtosecond laser. The surgeon folds back the flap, then removes some corneal tissue underneath using an excimer laser.

Jewell eye optometrist will perform a thorough eye exam to ensure your eyes are healthy enough for the procedure. He or she will evaluate: the shape and thickness of your cornea; pupil size; refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism); as well as any other eye conditions. Well also note your general health history and any medications you are taking to determine if you are a suitable candidate. The lasik patient does his post operative care with us. The day after surgery, Jewell Eye tests vision and assesses the cornea and surgical flap. The following month we continue to follow the effects of the procedure. In all our procedures before and after surgery, we have close communication with the surgeon and staff who perform the LASIK.
